EDGEWOOD, Md. (WMAR) - A fire that started in an Edgewood townhouse left 13 people without a home Saturday night.
It took firefighters from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer fire company and seven neighboring companies about 30 minutes to douse the flames that started in the kitchen of a townhouse in the 1700 block of Judy Way.
Fire officials say units were called to the home at 8:41 Saturday. The first crew arriving at the scene reported fire coming from the rear of a three-story townhouse and requested additional units. The fire was brought under control at 9:23 p.m.
There was significant damage to the house where the fire started and minor damage to an adjacent home. No injuries were reported. A disaster assistance group responded to assist the thirteen displaced occupants.
The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
