A Maryland State Trooper is recovering this morning after he was hurt during a high speed chase overnight.
Trooper Jon Sawa tried to pull over a car on mountain road in Abingdon, but the suspect, John Nussle, took off.
After a three mile chase, the suspect turned around and rammed into Sawa’s car multiple times.
Shortly after being rammed, Sawa’s car slammed into a wooden fence.
The impact sent a large part of the fence through the driver side windshield. The fence was deflected by either the dashboard, or Sawa’s hand, and just missed his upper body.
A little while later, other police officers spotted Nussle, and after another shot chase they stopped and arrested him.
According to police, Nussle was driving under the influence.
Trooper Sawa was treated for minor cuts and bruises.
