EDGEWOOD, Md. - Firefighters in Joppa had a new kind of job to do overnight Tuesday into Wednesday; typically they save human lives, but this time they had to save a life from the Animal Kingdom.
On Tuesday night around 10 p.m., the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company were called out to the 1700 block of Melwood Court in Edgewood for a fox stuck in a sewer.
After rescuing the baby fox, firefighters saw the animal was hurt, so they took it back to the fire station because no animal rescue groups could respond at the time.
The firefighters cared for the animal overnight until a vet could be contacted early Wednesday morning.
The fox was taken to a vet. We'll continue to update you on the condition of the fox as we learn more.
