HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (WMAR) - While most people were sleeping Friday morning, a Bel Air man took his final breath after a three car crash took his life.
The accident happened on I-95 in Harford County.
Maryland State Police say Michael Wayne Shipe, who was driving a Ford truck, ran into the back of a tractor trailer and caught fire.
The tractor trailer subsequently barreled into the back of a tanker truck.
An investigation has revealed that speed was a factor when Shipe hit the tractor trailer. Police say the other two vehicles were driving at no more than 10 miles per hour because of construction in the area.
Southbound lanes on i-95 were shut down for five hours and investigators and crash teams worked to clear the scene.
The other drivers involved in the accident were not hurt.
