HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - An Army agency says it has finished its field investigation into the Jan. 30 death of a civilian worker during underwater maintenance of a test pond at Aberdeen Proving Ground near Baltimore.

A spokesman with the Army Combat Readiness/Safety Center at Fort Rucker, Ala., said Wednesday that the command at Aberdeen will get an update on the results before the report is finalized and available for release.

The agency is investigating the death of engineering technician George Lazzaro Jr. He is one of three divers who died in two separate incidents at the so-called Super Pond less than four weeks apart.

The Navy is investigating the Feb. 26 deaths of two Navy divers.

A spokeswoman at Aberdeen says the pond remains closed pending the outcome of all investigations.
