Mom charged in baby's death, suicide attempt

JOPPA, Md. (WMAR) - Harford County Sheriff's Deputies are classifying the death of a 9-month-old girl as a murder and attempted suicide. 

At about 1:30 p.m., Deputies responded to the 900 block of Scannell Court in Joppa for a report of a child in cardiac arrest. 
 
As deputies arrived, they were met by paramedics from the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Compnany who were administering emergency medical care to the child. The child was transported to a local hospital where she was deceased at 2:18 p.m. 
 
The child has been identified as Salena Olivia Weber. 
 
EMS personnel also transported Salena's 19-year-old mother, Qucelia Yvette Baldero, after an apparent suicide attempt. 
 
Upon her release from the hospital, Qucelia will be charged with first and second degree murder, first degree assault and child abuse.
