DARLINGTON, Md. - A single-car crash early this morning in Harford County has claimed the life of the son of a prominent politician.

20-year old Ben Boniface died when he lost control of a Ford pick up truck at Bonita Farm just off Harmony Church Road.

Someone heard his truck on the private farm around 1:30am, and a night watchman discovered the wreck almost three hours later.

"It's believed that the driver failed to negotiate a curve... crashing into a fence that was on the property and portions of the fence went through the windshield causing trauma to the driver," said Monica Worrell of the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

The night watchman notified the victim’s father, Harford County Councilman William “Billy” Boniface, and the two men attempted to resuscitate the victim by performing CPR.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
