WENONA, Md. - The Maryland Natural Resources Police (NRP) has stopped the search for the reported plane crash after an intensive search turned up no evidence that a plane went down.

At 5:45 pm yesterday, a woman reported hearing a small plane crash into the waters of Tangier Sound just west of Wenona.  Units searched throughout the night for signs of the crash.  NRP patrol boats, Maryland State Police and Coast Guard aviation searched the area Sunday morning and did not locate any debris or other signs of a crash.
