OCEAN CITY, Md. - For horseback riding enthusiasts, you will now have a new place to ride.

Ocean City Town Council voted 4-3 to approve horse back riding on the beach during the off season.

Riding on the beach will be allowed between November 1 and March 30 between 27th Street and the south end jetty.

In order to ride your horse on the beach there will be permits available. The permits cost $50 per horse for a season and $20 for a daily permit.

To keep the beaches clean, Ocean City officials have asked that you clean up after your horses, and if you don't you will face a $500 to $1,000 fine. The same fine is in affect for those who do not wear the appropriate head gear.

There are some rules to keep others safe, anyone under 16-years-old must be accompanied by an adult and there will be no horse racing, polo playing or galloping on the beaches.
