CHESTERTOWN, Md. - A manufacturing plant on the Eastern Shore reopened Friday, two days after a four-alarm fire.

The Maryland State Fire Marshall determined the fire was accidental and that the fire started inside a pulverizer at the plant.

It started around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the CreaFil Fibers plant on Worton Road.  It took firefighters more than three hours to control the fire.

Fire officials say it's not the first time the CreaFill Fibers plant has caught on fire.  Lori Toevs, from CreaFil Fibers, calls the most recent fire a small one.

The plant recycles paper and turns it into a pulp-like material used in pharmaceuticals and other products.

Crews say a bulldozer was used to bring tons of paper materials outside, so firefighters could check them for hotspots.

The Maryland State Fire Marshall estimated damages at $50,000, but Toevs expects damages to be less than $10,000.
