Pedestrian killed, roadway closed near North East

NORTH EAST, Md. - An unidentified pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon on Route 272, closing down the roadway for four hours, state police said.
A spokesman at the North East barrack of the Maryland State Police said the 49-year-old pedestrian was struck by a passenger vehicle near the intersection of Route 272 and Elk River Lane. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. All lanes were closed while investigators processed the accident.
