PORT DEPOSIT, Md. (WMAR) - A fuel tanker driver is dead after the truck he was driving overturned near Port Deposit late Friday night.
The truck, which was fully loaded with gasoline, burst into flames around 9:15 p.m. after it failed to negotiate a turn at the bottom of a steep hill on Bainbridge Road and overturned sliding off the road.
It is unclear whether the driver, identified as Brandon Logan, was killed in the crash or in the fire that engulfed the truck. No others were injuries were in the crash.
Several first responder crews assisted at the scene including the Maryland State Police, Maryland Department of the Environment and the Water Witch Fire Department.
The fire also damaged Delmarva utility wires and Norfolk Southern Railroad equipment including a signal pole and railroad ties.
The crash is being investigated by Maryland State Police.
