HAMPSTEAD, Md. - Maryland State Police have identified the Carroll County woman they say was fatally shot by a trooper after
she pointed a gun at him.
Police say they were called to a home in Hampstead on Monday evening for a domestic dispute between 40-year-old Satina White and her sister. Once there, police learned White had a handgun and was threatening suicide.
Authorities say the woman pointed a gun at officers from windows of the home. Police say the woman refused commands to drop the weapon and repeatedly pointed the gun at a trooper. Police say Trooper John Warchal feared for his life and shot the woman.
White was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Warchal is on routine administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
