Teen seriously hurt in pedestrian crash

OCEAN CITY, Md. (WMAR) - A Finksburg teen is recovering after being hit by a car on Coastal Highway in Ocean City Friday.

At about 5:30 p.m., police and paramedics responded to 59th Street and Coastal Highway in reference to a pedestrian collision.

The investigation has revealed that an 18-year-old male from Finksburg and his friends were walking into the crosswalk from west to east across Coastal Highway. While in the crosswalk the pedestrian signals changed from "Walk" to "Don't Walk".

The group turned to walk back to the center median, when the teen attempted to continue across against the signal.

While in a travel lane be was struck by a vehicle.

The teen was seriously hurt and flown to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver involved in the crash was not charged.
