Gas main break temporarily closes Rt. 26

ELDERSBURG, Md. - Route 26 in the area of Johnsville Road was closed due to a gas line break Thursday morning.

Police say Route 26 was closed in both directions due to the rupture. Alternate traffic patters were established. 
 
The preliminary information has revealed that a construction crew was working at the Royal Farms store when they struck a 5-inch gas line with heavy equipment. 
 
No injuries were reported, and no explosion occurred. 
 
Officials with BGE say no customers were affected.
