COCKEYSVILLE, Md. - A Sparks woman died after she was thrown from her car in a crash early Saturday morning.
Police said they were called to the intersection of York Road and Thornton Mill Road for a report of a serious accident at around 2:30 a.m.
Police said an initial investigation found that a 2003 Ford Explorer was speeding north on York Road north of Thornton Mill when it crossed the center line and hit the guardrail in the southbound lane.
Tamara Sue Miller Poretsky, 49, of Sparks was thrown from the car and landed on a hillside off of the southbound side of York Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
York Road was closed for a few hours while the initial investigation was being conducted but has since been reopened.
This incident is being investigated by the Baltimore County Police Department Crash Team.
