TOWSON, Md. (AP) -- A 15-year-old boy accused of shooting a disabled classmate last year in Perry Hall faces trial as an adult in a suburban Baltimore courtroom.

Jury selection begins Tuesday in Towson for the trial of Robert Gladden Jr.

His lawyer says Gladden brought a shotgun to school to intimidate bullies. He says Gladden didn't target anyone when he fired twice in the Perry Hall High School cafeteria on Aug. 27.

Seventeen-year-old Daniel Borowy was hit in the back by what police say was a random shot. Boroway has Down syndrome. He was out of school for more than two months.

Gladden is charged with 29 offenses, including nine counts of attempted first-degree murder.
