BALTIMORE - When the storms hit Tuesday night, they made a mess on the roads.  The rain came down so hard; several people had to be rescued from their cars.

Officials say there were at least 11 swift water rescues, pea-sized hail in Towson and quarter-sized hail in Pimlico.

According to the National Weather Service, there were 3.6 inches of rain in Parkville, 3.18 in Towson, 2.26 in Rossville and 2.12 inches in Pimlico.

Storm Damage

But it was worst at the height of the storm.  There were reports of several swift water rescues throughout the area.

Ruxton Road Rescue

In the 1800 block of Ruxton Road, the water came up quickly.  Fred Eisenbrandt who lives nearby says he’s never seen it come up that high; water was up over car window.

He braved parts of the storm to help make sure a friend got home safely

A  woman was rescued from her car as the water came up to her windows.

Loch Raven Boulevard and Loch Hill Rescue

Another rescue happened at the intersection of Loch Raven Boulevard and Loch Hill.

A woman was rescued from her car as the water came up to her windows.

Rescue crews smashed the back window because there were reports of a baby in the back seat, but it turns out she was the only one in the car.

Errence Crosling’s brother grabbed the woman and pulled her to safety.

"The lady was stuck... she did not want to move,” said Errence Crosling. “Because she was still in shock."
