BALTIMORE - Sparrows Point could be on the auction block soon if buyers don’t step forward.
Last month, Hilco Industrial bought the steel mill for $72 million after RG Steel sought bankruptcy protection.
The liquidator set an auction date for buyers to purchase all or part of the property by December 21.
Hilco says whoever operates the Mill can run one or more of the production lines without owning the property. Buyers wouldn’t be liable for any environmental contamination on the site.
