CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Safety advocates hope to teach students about the dangers of texting behind the wheel.

A simulator will be set up during Maryland's high school lacrosse finals at the University of Maryland Baltimore County campus. State and local driving safety advocates will speak about the dangers of distracted driving at UMBC on Tuesday.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says drivers under 20 years old have the highest proportion of distraction-related fatal crashes.

The simulator will allow students to experience the potential consequences of distracted driving in a controlled environment.
