BALTIMORE - Drs. Jason and Camille Hammond were newly married and decided to have children right away. But a past medical issue stood in the way.
"I had endometriosis which is a medical condition that makes it hard to get pregnant, and it really didn't become an issue until I got married and my husband and I decided pretty early in our marriage that we wanted to try and get pregnant because of my history."
But try after try led to futility not fertility.
"It was very discouraging, every month was a reminder that my body wasn't working the way it was supposed to. Every failed IVF cycle after every cycle I was broken I felt like I was being punished and at some points I did start to lose my hope".
Seeing her daughter starting to lose hope, 55 year old Tinina Cade stepped out on faith herself and offered to be her daughters surrogate. After much insistence Jason and Camille accepted the offer
"But we moved forward in faith and my 55 year old mother was able to do what i wasn't able to do at 25, she was able to get pregnant and not only that all three of the embryos that we put in took root and became our babies"
One thing that had everyone worried is that Tinina was post Menopausal, could she be a viable surrogate?
Tinina eventually gave birth to her daughter's triplets.
