RANDALLSTOWN, Md. - An early morning fire damaged 12 apartments and left about 16 people homeless in Randallstown Friday.

Baltimore County 911 received a call about the fire at around 2:07.  When crews arrived on the scene ,at Rockdale Garden Apartments on Yennar Lane, the fire had spread through the attic to the roof.

The fire was quickly extinguished, but third floor units at both 3628 and 3630 Yennar Lane were damaged and the rest of the building had water and smoke damage.

Thanks to smoke detector warnings the occupants had left the building before crews arrived.

One firefighter from the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Company was sent to the hospital with minor injuries. They have since been released.

Approximately 100 firefighters responded to the fire.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
