LUTHERVILLE, MD - Parents of some of the students who attend Hampton Elementary School in Towson are upset about overcrowding in the school that was supposed to be reduced by an addition this summer that never got started.
Hampton Elementary currently has more than 500 students enrolled and the school's building was only made to accomodate 300.
Baltimore County officials are saying that the issue was a miscommunication with parents who say they were told that construction on the addition would have begun over the summer.
The issue is expected to be on the ballot this November, but the county says that voters approval will be necessary for the addition plans to move forward.
Because of the lack of space, fourth and fifth grade students are attending class in trailers outside of the school.
If the addition is approved in November, construction would be started next summer for a scheduled 2012 opening.
