PA couple hurt when car slams into house

FREELAND, Md. (WMAR) -  

A Pennsylvania couple is recovering after their car slammed into a home early Tuesday morning. 
 
Police say the crash happened at about 12:07 a.m. near the intersection of Middletown an Baker's Schoolhouse Roads. 
 
The couple's car was traveling west on Middletown Road when the driver, Gary Dean Summey of Hanover, failed to negotiate a curve in the road, traveled across opposing traffic lanes and into the home. 
 
The crash caused damage to a shrubbery, some stone stairs and the porch of the home. 
 
Both Summey and his passenger, Lisa Ann Summey were taken to local hospitals with severe, life-threatening injuries. 
 
Police are still looking into the cause of the crash.
