Light aircraft makes emergency landing in field

SPARKS, Md. (AP) -
Maryland state police say an experimental light aircraft made an emergency landing in a farmer's field in northern Baltimore County.
The landing occurred around noon Saturday. Police say the pilot told troopers the airplane lost power while he was flying south at an altitude of 2,000 feet.
The pilot attempted to turn toward his home airport in Pennsylvania but decided to land in the field, which is in Sparks. Police say it made an uneventful, smooth landing, and there was no damage to the aircraft or to property on the ground.
The pilot is from Baltimore, and his passenger is from Abingdon.
