OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The funeral for a Reisterstown firefighter injured in a fire in April takes place Sunday afternoon at an Owings Mills Synagogue.
Firefighter Gene Kirchner’s funeral service begins at 1 p.m. at the Har Sinai Congregation on Walnut Avenue. He will be buried at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
Kirchner of the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company was injured in a 3-alarm fire in Reisterstown on April 24. He was taken to Shock Trauma. Kirchner suffered brain damage and was set to be transferred to a rehab center but he died Thursday at Shock Trauma.
Hundreds are expected to attend the funeral. Expect traffic to be heavy Sunday afternoon for the funeral procession which goes from the synagogue on Walnut Avenue in Owings Mills to Greenspring Avenue to Broadway to the cemetery on Padonia Road in Timonium.
