TOWSON, Md. - Fallen firefighter Gene Kirchner was honored at his funeral service on Sunday with the Medal of Honor.
During that service his "End of Watch" radio transmission was also recorded.
Gene Kirchner of the Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Company was injured in a 3-alarm fire in Reisterstown on April 24. He was taken to Shock Trauma. Two days before his death it was announced that he was in critical but stable condition and would be transferred to a rehab center.
