TIMONIUM, Md. - It's time for Ty Pennington and his crew to hit the road to help a deserving family in Baltimore's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. For the third time in two years, the gang is coming to the Baltimore area.

The team held a pep rally in Timonium to provide information to volunteers.

"The pep rally is all about asking for help. We need lots of volunteers. There's lots of products and supplies we still need.  We have a week to do that. We are reaching out," said Milan Vasic, show producer.

Although the crew is tight lipped about the location of the home, the builders say we will be surprised by the finished product.

"I think the key thing is when people think of modular homes. They have a stereotype of small houses.  This will change their perception. We team with good builders who take what we can do and they add touches you wouldn't believe is modular so people will be surprised when they see this house," said Rob Ebbets, VP Marketing with Excel Homes.

The reality series provides home renovations for deserving families. Each episode features a family that has faced some sort of hardship.  Nancy Scheinman and her crew from N.S. Studios plans to help with murals and interior design.

"All the work that we do is helping others and that is important," said Scheinman.

Kuo Pao Lian has an architecture and design company. He's lending a hand.

"Anything we can do to help others and the entire community and just take a little time. That's what we are here for," said Lian.

Volunteers with the Homebuilders Institute are using the event as a learning tool by teaching at risk youth new skills through volunteer work.

"I like it because it keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. I'm also learning a new skill, which I can use later in life, " said 15-year-old Devante Brim.

There are many ways to help.  The team needs carpenters, painters, plumbers, food servers and clean up workers.  Organizers also need donations to help feed and hydrate the people working on the home.  You can check out Excel Homes' web site for information on becoming a donor or volunteer.

A deserving family will receive a knock on the door on July 9th.
