Don't get scammed by "firefighter" donation calls

BALTIMORE - We want to warn you of some misleading phone calls being made to people in Baltimore County. Volunteer firefighters there say some people have gotten calls from telemarketers, looking for donations.

The problem is volunteer firefighters in the county don't use telemarketers for fundraising.

Instead, they rely on direct mail and door-to-door campaigns.
