WOODLAWN, Md. -
Parents of children attending the Joy of Learning Daycare Center can be thankful that a car smashed into the building on a Saturday afternoon and not a Friday.
Police said that just before 1 p.m. Saturday an out of control car crashed into the daycare center located in the 6600 block of Dogwood Road in Woodlawn. According to its website, the Joy of Learning Center serves children from infancy to preschool age at two Woodlawn locations.
A preliminary investigation found that a 4-door Mercury traveling east on Dogwood Road swerved to avoid hitting a car, went into a parking lot and careened into the daycare center.
The woman driving the Mercury was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. There was no one in the building at the time and no reports of other injuries.
Baltimore County police are investigating.
