ESSEX, Md. (WMAR) - A bicyclist was struck and killed early Saturday morning in Essex.

According to police, officers were called to Fuselage Avenue and Right Wing Drive for a report of a person being hit by a car. When officers arrived they found a man, later identified as 27-year-old Jason David Leonard of Joppa lying in the road.  Medics declared him dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation found that Leonard was sitting in the middle of Right Wing Drive after falling off a bicycle. He was then hit by an Oldsmobile Cutlass traveling north on Right Wing Drive. The driver, Brandon Cook, 25, stayed at the scene, police said.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is investigating.
