Got an old room air conditioner lying around your house? Rather than toss it in the trash, recycle it and get paid for it.
BGE is hosting a recycling event Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5 to collect functional air conditioning units, according to the company. You will receive $25 per unit recycled. BGE will also hand out $25 mail-in rebates for high-efficiency ENERGY STAR certified room A/C units.
They will be taking air conditioners at Sears in Easpoint Mall in Dundalk and Sears at Hunt Valley Towne Centre in Cockeysville. Drop off hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
You can also get $50 for recycling old, working refrigerators or freezers. Contact BGE to schedule a pick-up and they will haul it away at no cost.
