TOWSON, Md. - Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith will brief members of the media on preparations for a potential impact from Hurricane Earl.  Everyone is keeping a close watch as Hurricane Earl approaches the Maryland area from the North Carolina Coast.

Smith and Director of Emergency Management Mark Hubbard  will highlight the County's storm readiness and advise people to prepare for emergencies.

The County Executive encourages people to have an emergency kit available and sign up for a free Twitter account to follow local updates.

The briefing starts at 1:30pm at the Baltimore County Emergency Operations Center in Towson. 

The Director of Homeland Security, Emergency Management, Baltimore County managers and agency representative members of the Baltimore County Council will attend the briefing.
