BALTIMORE - A 48-year-old Abingdon woman is dead following a car accident on the inner loop of I-695.
Investigators say Danita Marie Hasselbarth of the 600 block of Angel Drive in Abingdon was operating her 1994 Chevrolet Camaro on the ramp from northbound Harford Road to the inner loop of the Baltimore Beltway when, for unknown reasons, her vehicle left the roadway and drove partially into the grassy area on the right of the roadway.
Investigators believe Hasselbarth over corrected in an attempt to compensate for this error.
They say she then lost control of her vehicle and skidded backward onto the concrete barrier.
The barrier at this location is positioned in such a way that investigators believe it acted as a ramp and sent Hasselbarth's vehicle onto its rooftop.
Hasselbarth was pronounced dead on the scene by Baltimore County Paramedics.
