REISTERSTOWN, Md. - Crews battled a 3-alarm fire early this morning at a house on Hanover Road in Reisterstown, Maryland.
The Public Information Officer on the scene said that one adult has died. 58-year-old Steven Starr was found upstairs in the hallway, and sent to Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
One firefighter was sent to Shock Trauma after being found unconscious on the 2nd floor. He was rescued and is now at Shock Trauma, where the PIO said he is in critical condition. A mayday was called.
About 60 firefighters responded to the home at 19 Hanover Road. A bulk of the fire took place on the backside of the house, they said.
Firefighters also say that a woman escaped from a side apartment on the building.
Four people were displaced by the fire, and are being assisted by the Red Cross.
Initial responding crews did not hear smoke detectors.
ATF crews also responded to the scene.
