Baltimore - The transition from military life into the civilian world can be
difficult, especially when it comes to jumping into the workforce.
But the RecruitMilitary Opportunity Expo is working to
change that.
It’s a chance for veterans to connect with post
military employment and educational opportunities as they enter
civilian life.
Chris Melvin and his father, Geoffrey, came down to M &
T Bank Stadium on Thursday to take advantage of the job fair.
''I was in the Marine Corp for 4 years, got out in 2007. Now
I'm just looking to get hired and put my skills to work,”
said Chris Melvin.
"I'm an electrician by trade, and I’ve been looking out
in Baltimore and right now it’s a little dead," said Geoffrey
Melvin.
Nearly 300 people attended the RecruitMilitary Opportunity
Expo.
"The challenge that most veterans face when they do leave the
military, isknowing where to go and where the job opportunities
are," explained John Lundberg from RecruitMilitary.
"Most of the inquires we get from veterans mainly deal with
information technologies, homeland security, network security,
those types of positions they are accustomed to as military
veterans," said Lomax Fonville from Strayer University.
"These various employers are here to get connected with
military veterans because they understand the great training
experience that they do possess," said Lundberg.
