BALTIMORE (WMAR) - Two people are recovering after a car flipped over and caught on fire Thursday.

The crash happened just before noon at the intersection of Pratt Street and Fulton Street in Baltimore City.

Officials say two vehicles were traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on West Pratt Street when they collided.

After the initial impact, one of the vehicles hit a parked Honda which caused the vehicle to flip over, land on a sidewalk and catch on fire.

Quickly after the crash, neighbors and witnesses attempted to put the fire out using extinguishers, but were unsuccessful until fire personnel arrived.

One person that was inside the vehicle that flipped was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma with serious but not critical injuries. One person from the other vehicle was also taken to Shock Trauma with what was described as non-serious injuries.

The Baltimore City Police Department will be handling the investigation and are still trying to figure out what exactly caused the crash and why the two vehicles were going so fast prior to the crash.
