BALTIMORE - Two Baltimore City firefighters are in the hospital after they were severely burned fighting a fire in Southeast Baltimore on Thursday morning.

Fire department spokesperson Chief Kevin Cartwright says the fire broke out in the 1400 block of Bonsal street around 1 a.m.

A firefighter and a fire officer were both severely burned in the fire and taken to Bayview.

The officer has 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his face.  The firefighter has 3rd degree burns on his arms.

The officer is in serious condition.  There is no word on the condition of the firefighter.
