BALTIMORE, Md. - Two construction workers were burned in what Baltimore County Fire officials are calling an underground explosion and electrical fire on W. Preston Street.
According to a Fire Department spokesman, they were originally called to 201 W. Preston Street for a report of a manhole cover explosion, but discovered that there had been an electrical fire and explosion underground.
Two workers were burned in the fire and have first and second degree burns.
One of the victims was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma and the other was taken to Bayview Burn Center.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but there is no active fire burning.
Businesses in the area, including the State Office Building, were inspected, but none of them were affected by the incident.
No information about what caused the fire is available yet.
