BALTIMORE - If you love history and reenactments this is the weekend for you. Folks in our area will celebrate Defender’s Day and commemorate the bicentennial of the war of 1812.
The Star-spangled Banner Weekend is an effort to honor the successful defense of Baltimore from British attack and the writing of the National Anthem in 1814.
All of the events kick-off on Friday at 5:50 pm with a parade in Federal Hill. There is also a wreath laying ceremony also at Federal Hill.
These events are considered the grand kickoff of the Star-Spangled Banner weekend.
Folks can also enjoy re-enactors, the U.S. Naval Academy Band, musket firing, a ship to shore battle, and plus fireworks.
