BALTIMORE - "It has affected all of us, rather it's affected a mother, a sister, a friend, we've all been touched by this terrible disease," Mindi Leiken said.
Breast Cancer touched Mindi Leiken and her sister Lynn Fram more than seven years ago when they lost their mother.
"She had breast cancer twice, and so this is why October Breast Cancer Awareness Month is so dear to us," Lynn Fram said.
The family business, Bare Necessities, goes pink every October. For 29 years the Lutherville lingerie store has been a foundation for women needing a little support during a very difficult time.
"Some women have reconstruction so they are a little uneven while they're being filled up -- while their implants is being filled up, so we help them with different kinds of pads to put in their bra," Fram said.
It's a very personal mission.
"She wants to look like everyone else. She wants to look like herself before she had the surgery and that's our main goal to make her feel real pretty again," Leiken said.
Yvette McCleod knows first-hand. She was diagnosed in March with stage one-a breast cancer....she remembers March 8th like it was yesterday.
"Sweetie everything came back. It's positive you have cancer, and I said nothing, everything stopped," Fram said.
Eight months later, McCleod is decked out in her pink and armed with her tools from the survivors offering support program at St. Joseph Medical Center.
She draws strength from support networks and businesses like Bare Necessities.
"That's our main goal for a woman that walks in and feels so sad to walk out and feel so great about herself," McCleod said.
