Rawlings-Blake lauds Harborplace buyers

Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake Tuesday endorsed the prospective buyers of Harborplace, the New York-based development group that is trying to acquire the Inner Harbor's main retail space.

 

"When you look at Ashkenazy properties,' Rawlings-Blake said in a statement, "such as Faneuil Hall Marketplace in Boston, Union Station in Washington, DC, and Rivercenter in San Antonio, you see a company that could be a great fit for Harborplace. This is a company with a track record of investing in and managing premier destinations, each with its own local character, in cities across America."

 

Rawlings-Blake said the sale was another step toward upgrading the Inner Harbor and making it more attractive to both tourists and local residents.

 

"The Inner Harbor area has seen many great improvements over the last two years," she added, "with the full cooperation and support of my administration and that of private and community partners. I am absolutely committed to working closely with Ashkenazy to continue making progress and to secure Harborplace's legacy as a source of great pride for the people of Baltimore for years to come."
