The half-brother of North Carolina teen Phylicia Barnes is training to become a police officer.
Bryan Barnes says he was inspired by the the work detectives did in his sister's case.
He will start as a cadet in the Baltimore City Police academy this week.
Bryan Barnes says because of losing his half-sister he can better deal with families who have suffered a similar fate.
Last week prosecutors announced that Michael Johnson has been arrested and and charged with first degree murder in the Barnes case.
