Baltimore - People with disabilities are living longer. There are 33 million people in the United States living with a severe disability. Whether you are elderly, or facing a physical challenge, there are programs out there to help.
A local organization called Rebuilding Together Baltimore is pushing to make homes safer for elderly and disabled people who are living independently. They suggest some practical and inexpensive tips such as installing good lighting, clearing clutter, securing handrails, and getting rid of area rugs.
If you would like more advice or ideas, you can watch an interview with Bonnie Bessor from RebuildingTogether Baltimore from Good Morning Maryland @ 9.
