BALTIMORE (WMAR) - Northbound I-95 has reopened after a crash and explosion that closed all lanes of northbound and southbound I-95 at 395 Thursday night.
The driver of a lumber truck is dead and all lanes of northbound and southbound I-95 were closed Thursday night after a tractor trailer exploded.
Thirty four year old, Gregory Bryan Watkins from Fort Washington, was the driver for a company called Cardinal Logistics Management Corp. based in NC.
Crews were called to the crash scene at about 11:00 p.m.Thursday on I-95 at the I-395 split.
Once on the scene, crews found heavy fire and smoke coming from the truck. Units were able to extinguish the flames, but the driver died inside the cab.
A fire spokesperson said that they believed the tractor trailer carrying lumber crashed into a barrier wall causing the truck's diesel tank to rupture.
