BALTIMORE - Notre Dame of Maryland University is getting a new president.

School officials will introduce the school's 12th president Thursday afternoon.

The new president will succeed Mary Pat Seurkamp when she retires at the end of this academic year.

Seurkamp has been president at the school for 15 years and was the first layperson to permanently hold the position.

The school was founded as a Catholicliberal arts college in 1895 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
