The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will suspend all service on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 due to Hurricane Sandy. This includes Local Bus, Metro Subway, Light Rail, MARC Train, Commuter Bus and Mobility/Paratransit.
In light of the updated forecast from the National Weather Service projecting heavy rain, higher wind speeds, the possibility of widespread power outages, and the closure of State and Federal Government offices, MTA is suspending service for a second day.
“MTA management will continue to monitor the weather conditions to determine when it is safe to resume service,” said MTA Administrator Ralign T. Wells. MTA crews are inspecting road and track conditions, catenary wires and power supplies for possible damage. Service restoration will follow a comprehensive damage assessment of all MTA equipment and facilities. Some Local Bus and Metro Subway service could resume Tuesday depending on the weather, equipment and road conditions.
For the latest information on MTA service passengers are urged to check the MTA website at www.mta.maryland.gov.
