BALTIMORE - A very confident Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has agreed to a friendly wager with Boston Mayor Thomas Menino that the Ravens will defeat the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Mayor Menino and Mayor Rawlings-Blake serve together as Chair and Vice-Chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors Food Policy Task Force.
The mayors discussed their predictions for Sunday's game today. "The Ravens, with their dominant defense and elite offensive weapons look stronger than ever, and I am excited to watch them win the AFC Championship on Sunday," said Mayor Rawlings-Blake.
The terms of the wager?
The mayor of the losing team will send the other mayor food that is unique to their city. Crab cakes fro Mayor Rawlings-Blake from J.W. Faidley Seafood and a gourmet lobster dinner from a popular Boston restaurant for Mayor Menino.
"This week, in addition to showcasing the two best football teams in the NFL, Mayor Menino and I are proud to bring attention to some of greatest food in the country with this seafood smackdown-and I look forward to seeing it delivered to Baltimore City Hall next week," said Rawlings-Blake.
I'm confident in the Patriots. They put together a great team that works well together on the field, but of course we all need to stay focused on the game at hand," said Mayor Menino. "I hope to be enjoying some Baltimore crab cakes when it's over."
