BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has been named secretary of the Democratic National Committee.

Rawlings-Blake said Tuesday in a statement that it's an honor to be appointed to support Democratic leaders throughout the country. She says she looks forward to working to build on momentum of President Barack Obama's administration.

Rawlings-Blake, who became mayor in 2010 after former Mayor Sheila Dixon stepped down, was elected in 2011.
