BALTIMORE - It’s finally football season, and that usually means Friday is Purple Friday. But the Mayor has other ideas.
Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake called on city residents and businesses to show their support to baseball in Baltimore by “bathing the city in orange light” in support of the Orioles.
She declared Friday “Orange Friday” and asked city employees to wear orange all day.
“This weekend, as our Orioles face off with the New York Yankees for the top spot in the American League East, we should let the team know that we are behind them 100%,” the mayor said. “Buck Showalter, his coaching staff, and the players should be commended for playing at such a high level and for putting themselves in a position to play meaningful games in September.”
The O’s take on the Yankees for game two of a four games series Friday night. They took game one by a score of 10-6.
